Use Google AdWords to advertise on websites too!

January 10th, 2009

Many people don’t know that you can use Google AdWords to advertise your business on websites too

Rather than having people search for you, you can publish your Ads on other people’s websites, such as information sites, blogs and the likes, Google call this “The Content Network” and they deliver these Ads using something called AdSense, you may even be doing it already and not even know!

In September 2008 this got even more exciting (in a sad online marketing kind of way) as Google introduced it’s AdBuilder service in AdWords allowing you to make your own image based and animated Ads

Here’s an example of a site displaying these type of Ads (you can see that these are text Ads in this example at the top right)

You can also make a bit of money yourself by publishing AdSense on your website too

Reach mobile searchers using Google AdWords

January 9th, 2009

It seems that more and more people are using their mobiles to search for stuff

don’t miss out on these searches, use Google’s mobile Ads via it’s AdWords system

You can add Mobile Ads to an existing AdGroup by choosing a different Ad format, although I’d recommend setting up a new campaign to contain your mobile Ads so that you can manage the budget for this form of advertising seperately.

Also, Google have recently introduced new options in the campaign settings for delivery of ads specifically to mobile devices

Get in whilst you can, competition is still weak in these Ad formats and you can also take advantage of Pay Per Call too!

Don’t miss out on overseas visitors via Google AdWords

January 5th, 2009

There’s still a huge opportunity to attract more business from abroad using Google AdWords that people just aren’t taking advantage of.

Creating new AdWords campaigns and targeting them at different geographic regions is one of the many ways you boost the amount of visitors to your website.

Many people are worrying about exchange rates, but don’t forget that this makes it particularly attractive now for customers overseas to buy from you

UK tourism related businesses (particularly accommodation) should see a big boost in the number of foreign visitors, but they wont make the best of it unless they start promoting themselves abroad now.

There’s a double bonus in that general key phrases are less competitive abroad and therefore cheaper, with that and the fact that it’s cheaper for foreign customers to buy from you and visit the UK, why not give it a go now?

Don’t forget you can bid on key phrases in different languages too!

Online retailers missing out on “Free” business!

January 4th, 2009

Many online retailers are missing out on a free source of potential customers.

This free source of traffic is available via Google’s Product Search service.

Formally known as Froogle, the service is administered via Google Base.

For some time now, products that are uploaded via Google Base are also displayed in the main Google Search Results Pages (SERPS), an example is given below following a search for “Knee Rug”

Online shop owners should be taking advantage of this free service as it has the potential to boost online sales by tens of thousands of pounds a year for even the smallest of online retailers.

We’ll be posting more information on this topic very soon
